Ametller Bay

Ametller Bay

A small rocky cove located in a protected natural area which is included in the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest in Catalonia (PEIN). Accessed by stone steps striking out from the coastal path itself as it passes through this area, where the path becomes a dry stream bed running through the forest. Ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving. Surrounded by a beautiful Mediterranean pine forest landscape. It can be approached via the Sant Feliu de Guixols to Sant Pol coastal road and then access to the cove is on foot along the coastal path.

Can Dell Beach

Can Dell Beach

A pebble beach located alongside the Punta Brava residential area. The two access points leading to the beach on foot are found within the residential area itself. For the first access point, head down the main road on which you enter the residential area (Carrer del Sard) and turn left down ‘Carrer de Can Pey’. After about 150 metres, on the left, there is a pine forest and some stone steps that lead down to the beach. The second access point can be found at the end of ‘Carrer de la Juliola’, in the lower part of the residential area.

Canyerets Beach

Canyerets Beach

The only sandy cove on the west coast of the town. It is narrow and long, with deep, clean water, and no rocks or reefs. It also falls within the Ardenya massif natural area, surrounded by pines and oaks, and is accessed from the Rosamar residential area, on the outskirts of Santa Cristina d’Aro. Vehicle access during the summer months is subject to a fee charged by the residential area, which is private. However, for residents registered in Sant Feliu and Santa Cristina d’Aro, vehicle access is free upon presentation of appropriate identification.

Cala d’es Cranc, Cala del Peix i Cala dels Mussols

Cala d’es Cranc, Cala del Peix i Cala dels Mussols.

Very narrow, closed and sheltered coves. Accessed from the coastal path. The bathing area is, in fact, a flat rocky stretch of coast that lies between Cala Ametller and Cala d’es Cranc itself. Cala del Peix acquired its name after an 18 metre-long, eight-ton fin whale became beached there in 1912. These coves are ideal for snorkelling.

Jonca Bay

Jonca Bay

A small cove located behind the port of Sant Feliu. Access is from the esplanade just behind the sailing club building, at the start of the coastal path leading to Sant Pol, where there is a picnic area with wooden tables and benches. Iron stairs run down to the cove from this point. At the end of stairs there is a small drop which needs to be traversed without the aid of steps. Its reefs and rocks make the cove inaccessible by sea, but very interesting for snorkelling and scuba diving

Urgell Bay

Urgell Bay

A pebble cove located in the heart of the protected Ardenya massif, in a spectacular natural landscape setting. Access is via a narrow track that crosses a succession of hills, with a walk down to the sea which takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. It should be noted that there are a couple of points along the way that are not easily accessible. This track can be picked up on the Sant Feliu to Tossa de Mar road: close to the roadside viewpoint, just after the Punta Brava residential area, on the third bend in the road on the left hand side, there is a flat area where, if you stop, you can see the beginning of the track.

Vigatà Bay

Vigatà Bay

A beautiful pebble cove located at the foot of a cliff. Access is on foot from the sea end of the street called ‘Carrer de Jaume Vicens i Vives’. A fairly long stretch of steep stone stairs runs from the end of the street that zigzags down to the cove, taking about 5 to 10 minutes to descend. One of the most important Posidonia Oceanica prairies in the area can be found at the front of this cove. This, along with the Port Salvi zone, forms a marine area of great natural value, included within the European Natura 2000 Network of protected natural areas. It is a mixed cove and naturism is permitted.
